Summer term 2026:

  • Virtual Writing Conference (cooperation with Grundschule Marienstraße Wuppertal)

The virtual writing conference is a cooperation project between Marienstraße Primary School in Wuppertal (fourth grade) and the University of Wuppertal. The writing conference aims to jointly write a digital story (adventure, fairy tale, comic, horror... – the theme is set by the student authors).

The stories are written in teams. Each team consists of pairs of pupils (usually two, rarely three) and pairs of students working together. While pupils write the story together as authors on the iPad, students support them as writing consultants.

The seminar consists of three phases:

    • Preparation phase (university): The students are introduced to key topics in digital story writing (writing skills, writing skills development, writing process, feedback).

    • Work phase (school): Students and pupils work together in their groups on the stories – usually digitally (GoogleDocs), with at least one face-to-face meeting for the students at the school. The phase begins with a joint kick-off (pupils come to the university and teams are formed) and ends with the ceremonial handover of the finished stories at the school.

    • Evaluation phase (university): The project is reflected upon and evaluated, and possible research questions for term papers are derived.

    • The cooperation project combines subject-specific teaching principles with the students' own school experiences in a unique way and enables a practical examination of the (digital) writing process.
