Winter term 2025/2026:

  • Undergraduate seminar: AI-assisted writing in schools:

How is AI changing writing in schools – and how can it be used effectively in the classroom?

In the seminar ‘AI-assisted writing in schools’, we discover in a practical way how AI can support both teachers in lesson planning and preparation and pupils in their writing. In an application-oriented preparation phase, we expand our subject-specific didactic knowledge, test different applications of generative AI in various teaching scenarios and develop initial ideas for writing lessons.

Building on this, students plan their own teaching units, which will be tested in a practical phase at a primary school in Wuppertal at the beginning of January 2026. In small groups, they each design a double lesson on AI-assisted writing. The experiences gained from the implementation are then reflected upon in the seminar.

The seminar is aimed at advanced Bachelor's students studying to become German teachers (primary school and special education) and combines current developments in language/writing didactics with concrete school practice.

This seminar can be taken and credited for module 5-b of language didactics or for module G-BIL-WP9-b of educational sciences (it is not possible to receive credit for both modules at the same time).
Important note for students of module G-BIL-WP9: Please note that the prerequisite for this is the completion of module components G-BIL-WP9-a.
